 Kim is an amazing, empathetic, supportive, experienced, understanding, patient and committed person. After assisting me through a full night of intense induced labor starting at 11 pm, she supported me when I gave in and got an epidural at 7:30 am (even though she gently encouraged me to follow my plan, but was not judgmental when in the throws of labor I couldn't hear her!). My husband and I fell asleep after the long night, and Kim patiently sat awake in our room, being an awesome advocate until I finally gave birth at 1:37 pm. That's right, she was there for 14.5 hours without blinking an eye. She is AMAZING and we hope to benefit from her help if we are blessed with any more children in the future.

Like most of life's moments, the day did not go quite as planned.  We had heard and read that this is often the case during labor and delivery and so for this very reason, we had decided to hire a doula.  My husband and I haven't always been the best at handling stressful situations.  We love each other dearly and are committed to each other completely but we both knew that we were fixing to experience something new and foreign to both of us.  We were dreaming of having a very calm and beautiful experience but neither one of us knew exactly how we would react and handle the stresses and uncertainties of child birth.  We wanted to have someone with us who was well versed in labor and delivery and who could help us have the memorable experience we were hoping for.  From the moment we first met Kim, we knew she was exactly who we wanted to have with us as we welcomed our son into the world.  She made the entire experience completely about us.  She did not take away from the special moment for us as a couple but helped us remain calm and make decisions that weren't always according to plan and helped my husband be the best support I needed him to be.  Kim far exceeded our expectations.  Our birthing experiencing was beautiful and perfect and despite some unexpected little hiccups, it was the very memorable, calm experience we were praying for.  To say that it would not have been the same without Kim, would be an understatement.  If we could do it over again, we would have her there again in a heartbeat! We highly recommend Kim.  She is kind and loving and has this sense of peace that encompasses her.  She has a heart and a deep passion for what she does.  It was great to be surrounded by such love.  She truly is such a beautiful person.  We feel so blessed that she was able to be a part of the birth of our son. We loved working with Kim and strongly recommend her doula services. Kim was very knowledgeable of the birthing process and how to best prepare for it. She has a great Rolodex of local resources for chiropractic and acupuncture, etc. that we found really helpful. She came immediately when we asked her to when labor was underway and stayed with us through the entire process. Kim was a calming and confident energy during the labor and delivery and a wonderful advocate for us with the hospital staff at all times. At the hardest points in labor and delivery Kim was there to help me through, it would have been so much harder without her.

We had such a wonderful experience with Kim! She was essential to our positive natural birth experience with our second child. At first we weren't sure we even needed a doula the second time around, but were so reassured by meeting her in our interview and prenatal appointments and decided she was worth it. Thank goodness we did! Because I had such an unexpectedly fast labor, my husband almost missed it (he was bringing our older child to childcare) and I would have been alone without Kim. She kept me calm, had several techniques that really helped with the pain, and was so kind and reassuring when I panicked that our baby would be born before his father made it. I don't know how I would have gotten through the labor without her! She helped my husband find his way to our room with texts while also supporting me, and was an important witness to our entire birth process. My husband did make it just in time, and Kim helped us afterward to process and share the experience in order to help him feel like he'd been there for the whole thing. During our postnatal visit, Kim was also extremely helpful with nursing and post-partum/baby-related questions. Overall, I can't recommend her highly enough!

My husband and I highly recommend Kim Racette. We had a wonderful experience with her as our birth doula. My natural, unmedicated labor and delivery of our firstborn at a local hospital could not have gone smoother and we attribute much of that success to Kim's presence and assistance.
Our prenatal meetings were relaxed and informative. We felt as prepared as possible due to her knowledge, experience and willingness to share those with us. Labor started and progressed quicker than expected, but her arrival to our home when requested was timely. She helped me achieve my goal of laboring at home for as long as possible by gently facilitating pain management techniques and encouraging my acceptance of the process. Kim's objective opinion gave us the confidence we needed to decide when to leave for the hospital. Her support enabled my husband to be the perfect constant presence throughout. Her quiet patience and professional advocacy got us through a difficult period stuck in triage. Her position change suggestion helped me achieve full dilation. She knew what to say and when to say it; when to be in the action and when to be in the background. Kim brought a literal bag of tricks that she used when necessary--oils for smelling and massage, battery powered candles, contraction timing app. Kim took excellent pictures that we'll cherish forever of our new family as our baby was born. Our postnatal meeting was helpful in processing the whole intense experience.
I could go on for a long time, but the bottom line is she was an invaluable part of our positive labor and delivery experience. Kim's respectful attitude and genuine compassion make her very easy to work with. I feel confident in recommending her to any family looking for an excellent doula.

Kim played an integral part of my birth story as the most incredible doula! We wanted an experienced doula with a kind, calm personality and Kim fits this description perfectly. As healthcare providers, my husband and I valued Kim's expertise as a doula and a woman/mother who had varied birth experiences herself. Kim was open to our ideas for our birth and supported us throughout the experience at a birth center and our transfer to the hospital. She was warm and friendly to the staff at both locations but continued to focus on our needs and desires. She facilitated my husband's role as primary supporter and took care of his needs as well. Words cannot describe how grateful I am to Kim Racette for the presence, guidance, wisdom, and passion she brought to my family's birth! My husband and I were planning a hospital birth but toward the end of pregnancy opted for a home birth. Kim was easily able to assist us in exploring our options and supported our decision. At home, she offered the perfect balance of support vs. leaving us be that was right for us. She and our midwife worked together to keep the environment clean, relaxed, and safe feeling. Kim was like the Mom or Auntie that I didn't have with me in ABQ, and probably better than a family member in some ways because she is just so there for us without any question about her motivations. My birth was enhanced so much by Kim's support. Oh yeah, and the pictures she took were amazing!!! I have the entire event catalouged by these amazing pictures she took and I didn't even know she was taking most of them. What a GIFT!

From the moment my husband and I met Kim we were comforted by her calming energy
and caring nature. I knew immediately that I wanted her as a member of my birth
team. In our birth plan discussion she had a variety of suggestions which I had
never before considered, and which ultimately made my birthing experience even
more wonderful. She is always quick to respond to my emails or phone calls.
Every time we talk it's like talking with an old friend. She is so supportive,
giving, considerate, empathetic and knowledgeable. During my birth process she
brought me back to my body when I was losing my focus, and made me trust in my
body's ability to do what it was designed for: a natural childbirth. In
addition, Kim also made my husband feel empowered because he knew that he was
not my only supporter. I was also particularly happy that I chose raw placental
preparation, and would recommend this to others. If we are blessed with another
baby, Kim will certainly be there for the birth.

We planned on interviewing multiple doulas but after meeting Kim, we knew she was the right fit. She has a calm and nurturing presence balanced with a confidence and knowledge of women and the birth process. With this being my first pregnancy,  I appreciated being able to call Kim at any time the week before the baby  arrived with questions of what was normal. The anxiety of entering into a 
journey  that is filled with the unknown was relieved when Kim arrived to the hospital. She immediately became in tune with my contractions and my breath finding a rhythm that helped calm me with her gentle touch. My husband was like a deer in head lights and she was able to meet my needs without overstepping
his  role as my birth partner. She coached him on how to assist me giving us enough  space while still being fully present.When I hit that point of "I don't think I  can do this" Kim reassured me and helped refocus on my breath and embrace the  pain instead of fear it. I felt supported with gentle suggestions and a trust  that my body would tell me what to do best. I was blessed with unknown laboring  at home and only 3 hours of active labor in the hospital before our baby boy  Tucker arrived healthy. I could not have asked for a better
birth  experience. There's no way to prepare for the exhaustion and mix of emotions and adrenalin that overtake your body once your baby arrives and I was completely  unaware of what was happening around me. Kim helped advocate for our birth  suggestions when we weren't able to voice it ourselves. Kim has a way of having a suggestion for everything you may encounter  and an openness to try new things if her initial suggestion doesn't work. I loved  knowing she has such a huge "bag of tricks" of non-invasive,
natural remedies for me to try out when I needed it.

My wife and I wanted to get a doula for the birth of our baby girl. We did not have any family in town and thought a doula would provide the wisdom and guidance for us first time parents. We met with several doulas, and while all   were very nice, we felt Kim was a great fit for us. Kim took time to get to know  my wife and me before the big day. She wanted to know our birth plan and even  discussed birth topics we were not familiar with. So my wife and I had
high  excitement for the upcoming birthday. We had taking birthing classes, we had a  doula, everything was planned. Well… I can tell you that when the day came, not  a single part of the birth plan was realized. We wanted to have the most natural  birth possible however, due to complications, this was not the case. Kim stayed  with my wife and me through early labor at our house, through 3 days at the  hospital. We experienced a very long and challenging labor and Kim was  steadfast, calm and reliable. From a husband’s standpoint, the breathing,  focusing and general laboring techniques that Kim coached were critical in  engaging my wife during labor. When we were forced to deviate from the birth  plan, Kim had knowledge of all of the decisions we had to make and this was a  substantial comfort (again, first time parent here). The birth of my daughter  was a very special event to me and when I think of that day, I will always  remember the support and care that was provided by Kim.

My husband and I loved Kim from our first meeting and felt immediately   comfortable with her. In the months prior to my son's birth, Kim met with us to   discuss our birth preferences and concerns, provided us with valuable birth-related information, and used belly sifting and other techniques to try
to  turn our baby (he was sunny side up). My birth experience ended up being very different from what I was expecting (including 46 hours of labor), and Kim was there with my husband and me every step of the way, with an endless supply of ideas and support to help us through the process. She is a wonderfully calm and supportive presence - truly an amazing woman. I gave birth at a hospital, and Kim's interactions with hospital staff were without a hint of tension - several midwives commented on our great doula :) Kim also has tremendous knowledge of body work and essential oils, which were very helpful throughout pregnancy and our long labor/birth experience. I would recommend Kim to anyone in search of a doula and will definitely use her services again if we have another child. ~ Andrew S.
Kim was wonderful! She was calm, helpful without being obtrusive, and available whenever we needed her. She had wonderful suggestions for different positions and pain relief during labor and asked questions of the doctors that we wouldn't have thought to ask. "Having Kim help with the birth of your child is more than just  another helpful body in the room. She not only makes the mother-to-be comfortable, but helps balance the emotions and excitement that the father is feeling as well. This balance includes helping guide the inexperienced, and often clueless father-to-be in understanding what their partners are going through and how to help. This in turn allows the fathers to help support their partners in these exciting hours. Kim knows when to be present and hands on or simply guide from a distance. She brings a great peace to the delivery room. Without her, at all three of our children's births things would have been much more stressful. Kim has aided in 3 of my daughters labors, and deliverys.

Shortly before her due date Kim would get together with my daughter and answer questions, calm fears, and be informative about labor and delivery. All this helped her be strong , confident, and reassured. During labor, Kim had many ideas to help her feel as comfortable, safe, and secure as possible. She might have her change positions (there are so many comforting positions. I was amazed.),  bring water, speak positive and encouraging words, rub her feet etc. She had so many ideas that helped her feel as comfortable as possible. For her delivery, Kim had a magical way of coaching her to an absolute calm for the last leg of her experience.  

Her voice coupled with her words dispel fears. Her touch is gentle and calming. Her consistancy helped keep my daughter motivated and strong.
