My Birth Doula services start when you hire me. In our initial meeting we'll go over many of the scenarios that you might face during labor so that I can begin to understand how you envision your birth story.
We'll tailor my prenatal visits to your needs.
I will supply you with resources that will help you make informed decisions about your birthing process. I'll also teach you comfort techniques that you can use during pregnancy and labor.
Partners are a huge part in creating the right birthing atmosphere. It is important that your partner is present for one or two of our prenatal visits. I'll help partners determine what role they want to play during your labor and birth, and encourage them in their very important role in this birth. I love sitting back at a birth and watching a couple work together in this beautiful dance of love. The oxytocin and hormones that were present in creating this beautiful baby, if present during the birth as well, will help make this child's entrance into this world much easier and calmer.
As your doula I am available by phone, email or text to answer questions or concerns during your pregnancy. I can't give you medical advice, but I can help you find answers to questions you might have if I don't already know them, or refer you to your midwife or doctor to get the answers.
I can come to your home during early labor or if you're having a homebirth, or meet you at the hospital or birthing center. I'll stay throughout the labor and delivery, and usually for a couple of hours after your baby's birth to make sure everything is going well, help with nursing if you need it, and make sure everyone is fed and ready to settle in as a family.
I'll also make a postpartum visit from 1 day to 2 weeks after the birth, depending on your needs and wishes.
