My name is Kim Racette. I attended my first birth as a doula in January of 2004. I received my doula certification through Inspired Birth and Families, and have attended the Doula From Within workshop, taught by Pam England. I took hypno-birthing classes when I was pregnant with my last two sons. I am trained in essential oils which I use in my every day life as well as my doula practice.
People often ask me, “What made you want to become a doula?” My answer is simple: My many wonderful experiences with childbirth have ignited a passion within me to help other mothers and their partners have memorable, positive birth experiences.
I start the process of empowering couples during our first meeting and continue through the pregnancy. Knowledge is power! When I ask most couples what their biggest fear is for labor and birth, most of them answer "The unknown factor". So I help my clients learn as much as they want to know about every step of labor and birth, trying to take as much of the unknown out of the equation as possible.
I feel honored and blessed by God to have been put on this path. I rejoice in childbirth, and I want all birthing stories to be good. My dream is that our grand-daughters and great-grand-daughters will come to have only positive stories of birth. Stories of strength and courage, stories of beauty and joy, stories that will empower them to have wonderful births of their own.
